The story and mission behind our company
2020. In the middle of the pandemic, Erik, one of our founders and CEO, had the dream of traveling and living in China — and needed to learn Chinese.
So he met Pedro, a Portuguese Chinese teacher and co-founder. Pedro reached HSK9 in only 4 years, and a couple of classes were enough to convince Erik that his methodology worked.
Pedro's method was analogical and needed endless effort to organise. So we had the idea of digitalising the whole process into a simple, dynamic app — and, most importantly, one where you could learn Chinese from your mother tongue (until then, you needed to know English to learn Chinese).
After convincing the rest of the team, BoostChinese was born. Today, thousands of people learn with us — and we aim to be the definitive tool to boost your Chinese learning curve.
